On 16 November 1942, Squadron Leader Terry (Administrative & Special Duties) was killed when he came in contact with an enemy land mine on the Derna Road, Libya. Squadron Leader John Mawer Strawson DFC (120105) (RAFVR) was also killed in the explosion.
