On 12 January 1917, Second Lieutenant Tiddy resigned from the Australian Army and accepted a Commission in the British Army.
On 26 July 1917, Second Lieutenant Tiddy was killed in the crash of RE8 aircraft A3714 near the Aerodrome. He was practicing landings and the aircraft was totally wrecked.
