On 14 November 1942, Flight Sergeant Tobin, a Wireless Telegraph Operator, was admitted to No. 6 RAAF Hospital, Heidelberg, suffering from a fractured skull and concussion and was discharged on 30 December 1942. He was admitted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital on 8 January 1943 and died the following day.
