At 0140 hours on 21 April 1942, Wirraway A20-331 flown solo by Leading Aircraftman Warren, a Trainee Pilot, crashed, one mile south of the Deniliquin aerodrome and he was killed. The aircraft was on solo a night flying exercise and it dived into the ground after take-off.
