Captain White was killed when 90th Squadron B-25 Mitchell aircraft 41-12969 crashed just after take-off while on a low flying pass of the airfield at Dobodura on 30 April 1943. The aircraft pulled up to break away but one wing stalled and the aircraft crashed, catching fire and all on board were killed.
