On 12 April 1945, Aircraftman Class I Wingfield, a Trainee Technician, was admitted to No. 7 RAAF Hospital, Adelaide, seriously ill with Tuberculosis. He was transferred to No. 6 RAAF Hospital, Heidelberg, on 14 April 1945 and died on the 22 May 1945.
